Parabens are bad

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

So, I haven't been blogging much and there is a reason... A legit one. My face has been terribly irritated and I have had a bad breakout of acne. I finally decided to go to the doctor and she blamed it on my PCOS and hormone embalances,  which was of no surprise to me. She gave me a couple of topical creams to use and said I may have to come back and the way it is looking going back is a very good possibility. Anyway, I obviously have not wanted to try new products that might further irritate the situation, because it has been pretty painful. The acne is deep and hurts and my skin gets red, itchy and dry. No fun. So, I looked up information on dermatitis and found that parabens in make up,  shampoos and facial washes often further irritate sensitive and inflamed skin. Now, I was not going to try anything new but like I said, it hurt and the medicine the doctor prescribed made it even more dry so I decided why not go paraben free for a while.  I did some research and found Yes to Carrots. I had heard of it before and knew my niece liked the products. I went to Target and bought Yes to Cucumbers for sensitive skin. I bought their cleansing wipes, facial wash and lotion. I bought Yes to Carrots shampoo and Yes to Blueberries chapstick and some Yes to Tomatoes acne cleanser for use once or twice a week (sometimes I just use it to wash over the acne prone areas). I also bought Physician's Assistant blush and Organic Wear tinted moisturizer. I later purchased BareMinerals from Sophora, which cost me a small fortune. I am seeing small improvements but overall the biggest change I have found is that my face is less itchy and irritated. I am still breaking out and I try to use the Yes To Cucumbers lotion to balance the dryness of the medicine but I still have flaking. At first after I bought the BareMinerals, I stopped using the Physician's assistant products but today I added them back and found I have better coverage. I think the shade I purchased is too light so putting the tinted moisturizer underneath also seems to warm my face. I may still exchange it. I have until this weekend to decide. Overall, I rate all of these products as products worth trying whether you think parabens cause breast cancer or not. Even if you have no fear of acne scars or irritation, they are worth the money because they smell nice and work great,  plus they have less chemicals than other products. That's my tip on looking lovely for today. Have a great Wednesday.

Disney Villians

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

Yes. I am five. I had to have it and I am excited to use it. Do not judge me! They have awesome nail kits, fake lashes and make up bags as well, but I didn't want to go too overboard. I shall report back on how awesomely evil this makes me look! :)

Great Product for Hard water Hair

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

New favorite shampoo and conditioner. I have hardwater at my house. Like rotten egg sulfur grossness and it dries the crap out of my hair and makes it look dull and yucky. A co-worker of mine who does not have hardwater at her house suggested this product and I had to try it. She said it wasn't drying and was amazing....and well, it is! You can order it here:  http://www.malibuc.com/products/cn/9612/Hard-Water-Wellness-Kit

This is a $5 E.l.f. palette that I have been using and I love it. The colors stay on so well. Thirty-two shades of awesome.

P.S. Sorry for being M.I.A. I will try to do better. :)

Rimmel Glam Eyes Day 2 Night

Saturday, July 27, 2013

One of my favorite new finds is Rimmel's Glam'Eyes Day 2 Night. 2 in 1 Defined Length and Volume Mascara.  Yes, there are two mascaras and two brushes in one bottle. As you know many mascara tutorials suggest using two mascaras in the first place, but who REALLY has time for that?? (Says the woman who owns at least 6 mascaras if not more.... hey, I am "trying" them for you... It isn't about me. It is all about helping out the general public I swear!! I am a beauty humanitarian... o.k. maybe that went a little far). Anyway, this masacara really really makes your lashes look awesome and you don't have to really use the Medieval torturing device (eyelash curler) to get it to work.  I love using it when I want to look like I tried without trying, which, let's face it, is almost everyday. Great product that's definitely worth the money! Maybe I will post some pictures late to show you how great it works but for now the picture below shows what the bottle looks like.

Big ol' Makeup Haul

Friday, July 26, 2013

I will review these products at a later date.  I had not bought a lot of new items in awhile because my face was breaking out so bad. But, I had a list of things I wanted to try so I went for it and I found some real gems. I will report back on what I loved or hated shortly.

Beware of icky acne

Friday, July 26, 2013

O.k. No one likes to talk about it but we all probably have experience with it, acne. Yuck! It is so gross, so embarrassing and even sometimes painful. This summer my hormones and the weather have not helped me avoid having my own battles with acne, but I do have a secret weapon. A product that isn't even advertised or sold as an acne medication but it can work miracles... It can move mountains!!! (At least the ones on your face). What is this miracle product, it is sold by BeautiControl, which is at home beauty spa company.  They sell some detox products.  One of which is their Deotxifying Clay mask. It looks scary when applied. It is grey and as it dries, it will turn white, that's where the impurities are being pulled from your skin and it really truly works.  Sometimes I use it like an acne spot treatment and just put it on the little irritation. This is probably one of the best products that I have ever found and I would highly suggest it to anyone fighting acne.
In the picture below, on the left, I have shown what the product looks like in the bottle and on the right (sorry for the grossness, but I said it worked, not that it was pretty), is a picture of how it looks after it has dried and drawn the impurities from your skin. I have left this on spots overnight and the whole mask on as long as an hour or more. The key is to allow it to dry thoroughly so it has plenty of time to work its magic.

Oops I did it again....

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

My parody of Brittney Spear's song would be, "Oops I dyed it again. I played with my hair!"

I am pretty sure that could be a number one hit as anyone who has ever attempted to dye their hair probably can relate to the lyrics. If you are reading this, you are most likely one of those people.

I, myself, often mess up my hair the most when I try to dye it red. It seems it always ends up too dark, too purple or pink, a little orange, maybe burgundy or black. It just does strange things. I have read that a lot of my current hair dying issues are caused by highlights and low-lights having been put into my hair, so if you are someone that has also had these put into your hair then use drugstore permanent dyes with caution.

***Now would probably be a good time to throw in my disclaimer, I am not a beautician or professional stylist. My only experience and expertise in what I am about to discuss is my personal experience with my own hair. I am not paid to endorse any of the products that I am about to discuss and I am not affiliated with any of the companies. My hair color is naturally dark brown and I dye my hair often (usually every six weeks). I either pay my beautician of ten years or dye it myself at home. Take or leave my advice.***

O.k. so here is the scenario, you've just dyed your hair, the beautiful model on the box is smiling back at you in a mocking way while her shiny gorgeous hair laughs in your face, you look up in horror to see, bright red roots, red, purple, oh hell, is that green? It is awful. It is unbearable! What are you going to do?

At this moment, you have two choices. 1) Wear a ball cap for the next few days until you can get an appointment with a trusted professional and then you must duck your botched head in shame and walk into that beautician and let them fix your disgraced mess of a self. Afterward, you will pay a hefty sum for your dishonorable mistakes. or 2) You can take matters into your own hands. This is not for the faint of heart. You must be brave. You must be willing to put on that same ball cap and do the walk of shame into your nearest Walgreens, Ulta, CVS, or if you must, Wal-Mart and you must be prepared for the war you are about to embark upon, because it is a now or never, take it or leave it type of moment. You must commit. You must look into that mirror and say, "Purple, pink, green hair, you are going down! I will persevere!" ***fist thrust into air, finger pointing toward the heavens.***

Still reading?

O.k. here is what you need to get: a box of Color Oops (if you have long hair or thick hair you may want two or three because this is not a product that you can run out and buy mid-process when you realize you do not have enough), a box or two of hair dye, and a safety color. Here is the problem in my advice when it comes to color, depending on your natural color, is what determines what shade of hair dye you need! I will give you examples of what I do, but you will need to make adjustments based on your natural hair color and hair undertones. Like I previously stated, my hair is naturally medium/dark brown, I have red undertones, so when I buy a color to fix my mess up, I choose an ash color, typically, L'Oreal Excellence in "Light Ash Brown." My "safety color" (the color I know will always work because I have used it numerous times) is L'Oreal Excellence cream in "Medium Brown." I also sometimes use "Dark Brown."

Other things you may want to purchase while you are making a trip to town: a clarifying shampoo, a deep conditioner, a protein mask, and a prayer.

First, you are going to begin with the Color Oops. It should look like this:

You want the extra strength. This stuff smells bad and is runny so prepare yourself. Be in a well ventilated area, turn on exhaust fan, open a window. Wear clothes you don't care to get messy, use gloves, and work quickly, saturate all of your hair and try to avoid your scalp getting soaked. This is hard to do, but I recommend applying mixture about an inch to two inches away from scalp and then working it toward the roots with your fingers to avoid your scalp getting too much mixture on it and causing any irritation. Then, use plastic bag enclosed with product to cover your hair. You may use a hair dryer to heat product, keep the dryer about a foot away from head and move in circular motion off and on throughout the 25 minute wait. Don't worry I thought my hair might explode into a blame of flames as well, but it doesn't.

Check periodically and DO NOT leave on for any more than 25 minutes.
If your hair is light and processes quickly you may want to remove the product sooner.

When the time is up, take off plastic bag and hop in the shower and prepare for a lot of washing and rinsing. You MUST use COLD water so if you have a good sink, you may opt to rinse there. This is when you should use the clarifying shampoo. Wash your hair two to three times and stay in the shower rinsing your hair for at least 15 to 20 minutes. Yeah, cold water for twenty minutes is torture so take breaks and pace yourself for this step.

After this, your hair will most likely look like this:

DO NOT PANIC. It was suppose to remove the color. If you have never bleached your hair, then it will be darker, if you have had your hair lightened, it will look like this! Deep Breathe!

When you have completed this step, apply a deep conditioner and let it set for 30 minutes. I recommend a protein mask from Sally's Beauty Supply, but if you do not have that readily available, an Organix hair mask would work.

So, if you don't have this:

Then use something like this:

If you can, I would recommend waiting 24 to 48 hours before coloring your hair again, but if you do not have time for that, then feel free to let your hair dry and then apply your desired hair color.

Once again, I usually pick a color that has "ash" undertones or is a "cooler" color such as this:

When dying your hair, begin with the roots. I always start with the roots when using a darker color than my hair and let them set fifteen minutes, then I work color into my ends from my roots down and let color set another 10 minutes and then rinse and condition. Watch your hair very closely, because your hair will absorb color much more quickly than normal after using Color Oops. You do not want it to turn too dark or black which is why I recommend a light ash brown or dark ash blond for this step.

After all is said and done, this is what my hair looked like:

Not too bad.

If you are still not happy with the color though, use your "safety color." You want to add color back gradually to avoid having to use Color Oops or other ligthening dyes. It is easier to go darker than to go lighter again.

And last but not least, do not wash your hair for a couple of days, buy some hair pampering moisturizers. I like to use Beyond the Zone Protein Cocktail to tell my hair how sorry I am after using Color Oops.

Finally, it says you can use Color Oops two to three times. I have used it three times in a 2 month period before (gosh, that was a bad two months for hair). It is VERY drying and I would not recommend getting yourself in that situation. My hair did not break or fall out by any means, but it was dry and had to have lots of tender loving care for quite some time afterward so please, please use with caution. I have healthy, thick and curly hair that can stand a lot (obviously), so keep that in mind. I would honestly not recommend using this product more than once.

If you have any questions, please comment below. I will be posting as much as possible, but for sure, there will be a new review or tutorial every Friday night.

Thanks and best of luck in your hair dying endeavors.

The Beach Whale Scenario & Me

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

Last Sunday, March 17th, 2013, something hit me like a ton of bricks. Now, one would think that all of these things would have been realized much quicker, much sooner, maybe with a little less alarm and panic, but that was just not the case. I mean literally woke up Sunday morning on good old St. Patrick's Day and thought to myself, "Two months from today, I will have been married ten years. TEN YEARS!" I thought about how that seems so long ago and yet, just like yesterday. I thought about all we had been through, how many times I had wanted to kill him, but didn't. I thought about how we started out living in a one bedroom apartment in a pole barn and had to shower at his grandparents. I reminisced about how happy, hopeful and in love I had been and how proud I am of all of the hard work that has resulted in where we are as a couple and as adults today. That made me smile and then I visualized myself, so much healthier, so much more spunky, and SO MUCH thinner. I remembered how fat I thought I was at the time and how after I had my first son, I worked my butt off so I could be smaller than I was on my wedding and it was in that moment, I panicked. Straight up panicked. I realized in the past ten years, after a multitude of health issues, two births, lots of stress, a desk job, and everything else life can throw at a person, I had managed to gain around forty pounds. That is four pounds per year and if I stay married to this man for the rest of my life, at that rate, I will be a beached whale when I die. I mean I might honestly die on a beach someday. I can see it now, me stomping through the sand, leaving behind, not footprints, but craters, crushing seashells into fine sands, and then I just fall over, causing a small earthquake and my carcass is left to be eaten by seagulls and hermit crabs on some 40th wedding anniversary trip years from now. This is my destiny and with that visual in my mind, I panicked folks! Who wouldn't panic at the thought of being beach rot??!!
So, the following day, I devised a plan. I mean I have dieted before. This isn't my first rodeo. Usually I research. Usually I lie to myself and others: "Yeah, I am doing this to get healthier." "I don't care how much weight I lose." "I really enjoy working out. It is such a stress reliever." "It is coming off slow, but that is o.k. with me."
Not this time. No, I am not o.k. with any of this! I may do this and I may fail, but no more lies. I have PCOS and endometriosis, which makes weight loss hard, but I know it isn't impossible. BUT! Let me tell you, it does piss me off that other people who do not have insulin resistance and hormone imbalances can lose weight so easily. When I am dieting, Facebook is my worst enemy. I get on there and read, "I quit drinking soda and lost ten lbs in one week." "I only ate one bag of chips instead of five and lost 3 lbs today." Umm yeah, I LOOKED at a cupcake and it attached itself to my thighs. I quit drinking soda, started exercising, and have only had carrots for the past three days and gained ten pounds, so up yours Facebook braggers! O.k. That was not only exaggerated; it was also a little mean. But, anyone who has ever dieted knows they have felt this way. It sucks, so I have made myself one vow, "stop comparing myself to others." They do not have my health problems, my slow metabolism, my genuine hatred of working out, or my body type. I bet they also lack my glowing personality and ridiculously gorgeous hair (I mentioned my sassy new do earlier, right? Still on that high. It is the little things when you're a mom).
Anyway, I digress from my rant about my hatred of Facebook during diet and I apologize if I have ever hated you for being able to lose weight easily. Hey, my husband is one of those people. He is actually the chip guy I was referring to. He can cut back on chips and lose ten pounds in a week! It isn't right or fair, but time to get over the pity party.
As of last Monday, here was my plan: not eating. Yep, that was it. I am going to starve myself skinny and forget you telling me it isn't healthy. That was the plan and I'd die trying. That plan obviously was destined for failure, so by 11 a.m. after a banana and cutie (the fruit that's like a tangerine), I decided I needed a real plan. I still do not have a real plan, so this is what I ended up doing. I limited my calories to between 800-1200 per day. I went from having an i.v. of Pepsi everyday to only one can per day. I cut out all carbs and starches. I started working out on an elliptical and doing some tension weights. I started drinking at least 32 to 64 ounces of water per day and for the first three days, I felt like complete and utter crap. I am not going to sugar coat it for you, you don't need those calories anyway. It was not a fun feeling. By day two, I was telling those I loved my goodbyes: farewell, adios, adu. Yes, it was that serious. I would not recommend this approach. I may have a little bit of some sort of obsessive, compulsive behavior. I am not sure, but I have an all or nothing approach. So it is either drink the vat of Pepsi or have no Pepsi at all. It is either work out until you sweat and have a stroke or do not work out at all. That's just me. And the only advice I did take was to gradually reduce my intake of soda, which I did and now, I am slowing reducing my intake of caffeine.
I still have no plan other than to lose as much weight as possible by my tenth wedding anniversary. I have no goal weight in mind. I haven't the slightest clue what I am going to do after my anniversary has came and went, but for now, I am going to use "My Fitness Pal", continue doing what I am doing, maybe try out different workout routines, and diet plans and just see where I end up. I am hoping that I lose at least ten pounds and I would LOVE to lose twenty, but I am not crazy. I am a relatively realistic person about things. I know that may not be possible and it is a short amount of time, but I am just going to go with it and see what happens. I mean I already own fat clothes and I have a few things a size or two smaller, so what is the worst that could happen?
I will try to post updates and share in my weight loss journey.
This week I am trying the "Military Diet", which I have seen pinned on Pinterest numerous times. I have no clue if it really works, but I figured since I have no plan that using this plan for three days just to see how it goes would not hurt. According to another blogger, you can lose up to 10 pounds in three days using this diet. This is the site I used to get the diet and I am currently on day one. According to blessedmommy's blog, she had some headaches from possible caffeine and sugar withdrawals, so my suggestion would be to take a week (or maybe even two) like I did and just go with the confusion and cut a little out a time until you feel comfortable trying this diet. I think that jumping right into it and going from cheeseburgers and soda to this would end in a lot of pain and suffering for three days. I will report back at later date on my results.

Red Red Red lips

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

Luscious, seductive, pin up, vintage, smart, classic, glam, sexy red lips. No matter how you describe them, red lips are hot. And I always get it stuck in my head that I want my lips to be a lovely red. But, like a lot of things my body's chemistry usually mixes with the color pigments and my lips end up too bright and sometimes pink or orange. So, I've been on a kick to find an awesome red lipstick to make my little lips pop. It has been a journey of many failed attempts but finally I decided to be brave and try the shade options offered by one of my favorite lip colors, Revlon's lip butter. Marvelous. They are a balm meets a lipstick and really are as smooth as butter. I bought Red Velvet and Candy Apple and surprisingly both of them are very pretty. They aren't harsh like a lot of reds I have tried. They are soft and subtle. They can be darkened by pairing with a lip liner, but all in all I have been very pleased with my two new shades. I added some pictures, but I will post more of them on my lips along with some of the other disasters I tried to give you a better idea of what I am talking about.

Zip zapping show down

Friday, July 12, 2013

In the left corner we have Neutrogena's Rapid Clear 2 in 1 Fight & Fade gel, weighing in at .5 oz and costing about $10. It packs quite the punch with 2% salicylic acid. In the other corner, we have MaryKay's acne treatment gel, outweighing its opponent at a whole 1 fluid ounce. It fights with 5% benzoyl peroxide.
So, who will win this epic battle??
Personally, I think Neutrogena's gel works faster at getting rid of pesky zits, but I wouldn't rule out Mary Kay's gel because it seems more gentle. Plus, it costs only $7 and gives you twice the product.
My overall review is that if you have a zit you need rid of fast, use Neutrogena, but for acne prevention, you may want to opt for the gentler Mary Kay product.
Good luck and hopefully, this finds your face "facing" summer with more grace and pose than mine!

Save your Money Monday

Monday, July 1, 2013

Since it has been awhile I thought I would write a quick review for this eyeliner. At first, I liked it, but it dried out too quickly. It is Maybelline Master Duo liquid liner. The dual tip does make it easy to apply and get different line thickness, but like a lot of liquid liners, it takes awhile to dry once applied. However, it didn't take long for this little bottle to dry out. I just don't feel like I got my money out of it. I still prefer gel liners to liquid any day.

Just in case you doubt my love

Thursday, June 20, 2013

Just in case you doubt my love for Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB cream 8 in 1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfector. I own it in every shade but Deep.  Summer has posed a major problem with finding the right shade, but I now have that covered!

Save your money Monday

Monday, June 10, 2013

I usually like Fructis products because they smell great, but this doesn't. I haven't tried it as an oil while flat ironing my hair but as for skin and face, it fails. I will let you know if I change my mind, but right now I say, save your money!

Get your tan on! Tips, tricks and best self tanners

Saturday, June 8, 2013

I own a tanning bed and spent a month tanning before my vacation to Texas but my tan was a little more uneven than I wanted and I decided that I really wanted to try my hand at using self-tanners, so I found some good ones. Of course, I used drugstore brand, because this was something I had never really done before and I didn't want to waste my vacation money on expensive brands or a salon booth spray tan. Plus, I surely won't let an actual person spray me down. No scarring others in my pursuit of a good tan.
So here are my tips and tricks of using self tanners.
I started off by reading some reviews and then selected three. The first one I already blogged about: L'Oreal Sublime Bronze self-tanning mist. If you missed that post just know that unless you are really dark with warm undertones this probably won't work for you unless you want a job at Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. If so, then by all means go for it.
The second two products are considered lotions and I bought them  at the same time. One is a gradual tanner while the other is pretty much an instant tanner so comparing them seems unfair so I will just talk about the good and bad of both.

I tried Banana Boat's Summer Color Self-tanning lotion in Light/Medium. They also make it in a Dark. I probably could have used it, but I was going for subtle and natural. All in all this product will give you the best natural color. It is tinted and almost starts working instantly so it is easy to apply. It has self-adjusting color so you just put it on at night and wake up with a gorgeous tan. One thing I did not know before using a self-tanner is to exfoliate, shave and moisturize. Doing all of these things will improve the quality of your tan. I started by applying lotion on thighs, mid-calves, stomach, mid-chest, and upper arms. That's where I started with my healthy "globs" of lotion and then I worked the lotion in circular motion around, adding and covering areas, while making sure my elbows, knees, and feet were not over covered with lotion. I washed my hands afterward with exfoliating scrub and/ or baking soda to remove tanner from palms.
My overall review of Banana Boat's tanner is that it works great. Banana Boat has been around for a long time so they make good stuff. It only cost around $6 so you cannot beat the cost. My one complaint, and it is one I did not read about, is that it takes forever to dry. So don't think you can slap it on right before bed and then just instantly jump into bed because it won't work out for you. It is a long process of drying. It feels a little tacky to touch for at least an hour. Also, my husband complained about how I felt greasy and oily. He did not like the feel this product left. It didn't smell too bad but it did have a smell, but it was one that went away with one shower as did the greasiness. Even though this product isn't advertised as a gradual tanner, the more you apply, the darker you get. Oh and it fades away with dignity and grace unlike the Sublime Bronze stuff. So good news, no looking like a leopard here.

The last product I tried is Jergens Natural Glow. It is a gradual tanner and it is pretty much awesome. It looks like a lotion, goes on like a lotion, dries fast and is very subtle. In fact, most of you white girls looking for a fast tan might not like it because it is so subtle. It would take time to build your tan with this product alone. But if you are looking for something that just improves the look of your skin while giving a soft glow, this is great. Also, Jergens improved the odor so no funky smells. I must admit I didn't build my tan with this so I am not sure if with multiple coats it would turn you orange or not. It seemed to have a different hue than Banana Boat, which was perfect for my skin tone, but I still think it looked really natural at least with a max of two coats which is what I tried.
Lastly, let's say one of these products doesn't work for you or let's say you try a totally different one and you look like an Oompa Loompa, do not panic. There is a way to fix or undo most of the damage.
Here is what you will need: exfoliating buffer, baking soda, Epsom salt, Olay Daily Exfoliating Body Wash, and Tree Hut's Shea Sugar body scrub. I am not sure if all items are necessary but I used them all. First, run a warm bath with about two cups Epsom salt added to it. I also added BeautiControls Detox bath soak. I don't think this is necessary to remove the tan but it smells good and is relaxing. I started by soaking awhile, just laying back and relaxing. After about 15 minutes, I started adding baking soda to my areas of biggest concern. I let it sit where I could and scrubbed it with the buffer. I scrubbed and soaked, using handfuls of baking soda and the buffer for thirty minutes or until satisfied with removal. Last I scrubbed down with the Tree Huts Shea Sugar scrub. It smells WONDERFUL and costs less than $5. By the way, at this point your buffer will be on its last leg and your tub will look gross!! I just scrubbed the tub while I was in there. Lastly, I shaved, and then used the Olay Daily Exfoliating body wash in the shower. I applied I love Cosmetic's "I love coconuts & cream" and my skin felt heavenly. In fact, even if you don't have a botched tan, I would still recommend this routine just to remove dry dead skin cells and make your skin soft and pretty. It works amazingly and you can get all the products listed (aside from the BeautiControl) at Wal-Mart.

Money is money

Saturday, June 8, 2013

So the other day, I was shopping at the ol' Wal-Mart when I came across a discovery, they sell a very small hydrogen peroxide bottle with a spray top. It said for easy use. Blah. Blah. Blah. But, the disturbing part was it costs around $1.25-1.38 ish (not a lot, BUT.......). It was only eight ounces when you can buy a 32 ounces of Hydrogen Peroxide bottle for .88 cents. You can use a leftover sprayer from a Windex or any other cleaner and it will fit the big hydrogen peroxide bottle. You have to cut the straw of the sprayer to fit the bottle and wash it, but that is it! So get more for your buck by using this easy trick.

LeeAnnism: Weight Loss & People that annoy me Part 2

Monday, June 3, 2013

O.k. ladies, I apologize now, but another group of dieters that annoy me are those losing weight for their "man."
Let's all pause a moment while I filter the profanities.
Are f-ing kidding me ladies?
No, no, no I do not want to hear it.
The "my man said I needed to lose a few pounds", "I don't think he's attracted to me anymore", "he said I might not want to eat that because it will go straight to my thighs" crap will not be tolerated in these here parts.
None of the above or anything in its similarity are acceptable.
My husband has never once said I wasn't anything less than perfect and has always made sure I feel beautiful. It could be out of fear, because I'd slap him silly if he said anything any different, but the point is, he has never been dumb enough to even try to be so rude.
Every time I hear this b.s. it infuriates me and most of the time it is coming from skinny girls and I am left thinking, "what has he done install carnival trick mirrors in your house?"
Seriously, a guy like that should be lucky you aren't a pencil or another man might pick you up and carry you away right before his pathetic eyes.
So do me a HUGE favor and the next time your "man" tells you that you are fat or even implies it, say,"Honey, I have to stay this weight, because if I were any skinnier or hotter I'd be out of your league. Oh wait.. I already am!" And then you walk your perfectly acceptable booty out the door because even if you aren't a size 2, you are still perfect and don't deserve that crap!

Mixing it up Monday

Helllooo!! <--- That was in my best Mrs. Doubtfire voice by the way.
Yes, yes. It has been awhile ol' chum. I bet you've been wondering for weeks what to do without me. ;)
Between work, Internet problems, almost running over my data usage limit, vacation, life stresses, and being a mom, I have forgotten to do something I really love to do, which is blog, so prepare yourself for blog post overload!! We've got a lot of catching up to do!
First things first, it is save your money Monday so that's what this blog post is going to cover, except this is a first impression review as well. With that being said, I was running late for work and may be judging it harshly.
But here it goes, we have So Gorgeous Volumizing Root Mousse from Sally's Beauty Supply and in all fairness, I am pretty sure I used it incorrectly. I was going for a spray and go mousse. I sprayed and it went.........everywhere.
It was like a winter wonderland in my bathroom!!!! The kind where you look in awe at your walls, mirrors, countertops and ceiling. How did that get up there?
It was the kind of mess where you don't have time for it and you dread the clean up that will follow.
But to be fair had I had time to read the directions, it says to squirt in hand and work through hair and style. Yep, I definitely skipped that step. But, my biggest complaint is it smells more like a product I would use to clean my bathroom (like scrubbing bubbles) than something for my hair. Yuck!
Maybe I am being mean, but I wasn't really sold on this product mostly because of the smell. My recommendation is to spend the extra $10-12 and get some Big Sexy Hair Root Pump Spray Mousse, because it works great and smells amazing.
